Spontaneity Meets Personalization: Cherine and Dom's Story
I’ve mentioned before that elopements are typically spontaneous decisions, and it’s true! Cherine reached out to me in early February and explained that she and her fiancé were planning to elope. Cherine and Dom had met and started dating several years ago while Dom was stationed overseas, and now that he was back home in the states, Cherine had flown in to visit from her home in Germany. They wanted to elope before she had to go back home at the end of February, so we had less than 3 weeks to put everything together!
Narrows of the Harpeth: An Adventure Awaits
We got straight to work on planning their dreamy elopement experience. Cherine actually pulled inspiration from a fall styled shoot I had shot back in the fall of 2021 (inspiration below) at Narrows of the Harpeth. Narrows of the Harpeth is a scenic area in the Harpeth River State Park here in Tennessee. If you thought you had to travel far from Nashville for breathtaking views, think again! Narrows of the Harpeth is only 30 minutes outside of Nashville and offers a stunning view of the river winding along the cliff along spacious farm land. It’s the perfect place for any couple wanting an adventure for their elopement without having to travel too far from the city.

Customized Details and Attire
While Cherine had already chosen her dream dress, finding the perfect attire for Dom was a challenge. However, elopements offer the freedom to personalize every detail, without rigid rules. They decided on a "wedding color" approach, allowing them to select clothing that reflected their style and comfort. If there's a better word for this, I haven't heard of it, which is likely because I made up the idea on the spot to begin with. With elopements, you don't necessarily need to choose the perfect color palette for decorations and attire the way you would for a wedding, but I thought pulling from that idea to come up with a super personalized wardrobe for the day was a solid idea, and we were totally right! Dom's peachy blush button-down, dress slacks, and sneakers perfectly complemented their overall laidback aesthetic without being too totally casual.
